Who We Are

Shun-Ping Chau (“Ping”) founded Hanuman Consulting to continue her passion to protect the environment in a global context after working over 20 years for the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as an on-scene coordinator managing environmental emergencies.

Prior to working for the EPA, Ping worked as a geologist and mining engineer for extractive industries, and spent a year in research and development for an explosives manufacturer.

From 2018 to 2023, working for the United States Department of State’s Mercury Program, Ping led the design and implementation of the first mercury temporary storage system in Colombia. It is also the first storage system in Latin America. It is her belief that everyone lives on the same planet and every single small action has global impacts.

Ping has a bachelor’s degree in geological engineering and a master’s degree in mining engineering, both from the Colorado School of Mines. She also has a master’s degree in public health from Johns Hopkins University. She is a registered professional engineer in the State of Colorado, with extensive international experience, speaks Cantonese, English, French, Spanish, and is currently re-learning German.

We are proud of our niche expertise, at the same time aware of our limitations, and have a network of very competent professionals we can reach out and collaborate with for large, complex projects. We will also gladly help with referral when appropriate.
